Governance
The International Polar Foundation (IPF) is governed by Belgian law. The IPF statute was legally established in 2002 according to the act of 27 June 1921 relative to non-profit organisations, international non-profit organisations and foundations, modified on 2 May 2005.
International Polar Foundation and Polaris Centre a.s.b.l./ v.z.w.
The Polaris Centre a.s.b.l./ v.z.w. ("association sans but lucratif" or "vereniging zonder winstoogmerk") was established as a charitable non-profit organisation in May 2004 according to the act of 27 June 1921. As the chief operating arm of the IPF, the Polaris Centre provides the relevant means for the IPF to deploy its mission and for disseminating the results of scientific research on the Polar Regions and climate change.
