Venturi “Buckeye Bullet 2” Sets New Land Speed Records

The Bonneville Speedway in the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah yet again saw new world records set as Venturi, a Monegasque manufacturer of electric automobiles, demonstrated its technological acumen.
On September 25th, the Venturi Buckeye Bullet 2 established two new land speed records (yet to be validated by the FIA), making it part the elite club of land vehicles to have crossed the 300 mph limit. 110 years after its predecessor, the Venturi Buckeye Bullet 1, reached a record land speed at the time of 65.2 mph, the Buckeye Bullet 2 set two new land speed records, reaching 302.88 mph (487, 43 km/h) and 303.03 mph (487, 67 km/h).
This year’s trials are merely the first step in a three-year program that will establish the electric drive vehicle as a legend. The 750 hp world record-breaking car, developed in collaboration with Ohio State University (OSU), will return in 2010 and 2011to break more records and set new standards for land speed racing.
In the meantime, constantly pushing the limits of electric propulsion has led Venturi to sponsor the Venturi Global Challenges, a series of technological and human challenges that will underline the reliability, the energy efficiency and the toughness of Venturi’s vehicles in extreme environments such as Antarctica. The International Polar Foundation and Alain Hubert will participate in the testing of the Venturi "Antarctica" model.
