Princess Elisabeth Antarctic Station Broadcasted on Belgian Television (CANVAS)

On two consecutive Sundays, September 2nd and 9th at 21 55, CANVAS (Belgian Flemish public Television) will broadcast a documentary on the Belare 2006 expedition and ongoing Belgian scientific Research in Antarctica.

The documentary was filmed in High Definition video and shows the difficulties Alain Hubert and his team had to overcome to unload 200 tons of material on the ice and to transport it to the construction site. The expedition, which prepared the building site of the Princess Elisabeth Antarctic Station, eventually succeeded in installing the first wind turbine on the Utsteinen site.

The documentary also focuses on the sustainable technologies that will make it possible for the Belgian station to be the first zero emission station ever to be built in Antarctica.
