UK Parliamentary Reception for the International Polar Year

Jean de Pomereu represented the IPF at the UK Parliamentary Reception held to mark the launch of the International Polar Year 2007-08. The event took place at the Houses of Parliament on the 18th of April.

Malcolm Wicks, UK Minister for Science & Innovation, Professor Chris Rapley and Professor Lloyd Peck of the British Antarctic Survey, and Professor Julian Dowdeswell of the Scott Polar Research Institute, spoke about about the importance of the Polar Regions, and why it is crucial to carry out research in these most inhospitable environments.
