European Arctic Information Centre

European Arctic Information Centre

Spearheaded by the Arctic Centre at the University of Lapland, in Rovaniemi, Finland, the European Arctic Information Centre (EUAIC) works to bring together EU and Arctic stakeholders. By providing reliable knowledge to policymakers and the public, the Centre aims to ensure sustainable Arctic development.

International Polar Foundation role

As a member of the consortium, the International Polar Foundation has been tasked with organising media-targeted events and activities at workshops and conferences in Brussels during the project's lifetime. We will also organise workshops in Brussels at the end of the first assessment phase of the project.

The Project

A group of leading Arctic research institutions has proposed the establishment of an EU Arctic Information Centre, based on existing European institutions and infrastructures.

The proposed Centre will be a network model featuring nodes at expert institutions in Europe and a hub in the EU’s Arctic region.

The project aims to organise European cooperation in order to inform and communicate about the Arctic, its environment, communities, cultures and peoples through an EU Arctic Information Centre. The Centre will also offer requested information material to the experts, decision makers and the general public on arctic issues
