The International Polar Foundation is the mandated Antarctic Operator for the Belgian Polar Secretariat. As such, the IPF oversees all day to day operations and logistics at Princess Elisabeth Station
This responsibility covers the following tasks:
- The upkeep, maintenance and development of the Station and its facilities in the broad sense;
- The operational logistics, including the management of the Station and its scientific shelters
- Optimisation of operations to meet expectations of scientific programmes approved by the Polar Secretariat and international standards;
- The measures to be taken to ensure the safety of all of the people in and around the Station;
- The technical updating of the station
- Promotion of Princess Elisabeth Antarctica as a platform for international research programmes
All Antarctic operations are executed in accordance with the mandate of the Polar Secretariat.
