In conjunction with the Aspen Institute and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the International Polar Foundation hosted the first Arctic Futures Symposium in Brussels on the 14th and 15th of October 2010.

As an opportunity for various stakeholders in the Arctic to come together to discuss their needs and positions as well as share their know-how in this vitally important region of the world, the symposium brought together high-level representatives of the Arctic Council countries and the EU as well as other interested parties.

The conference took place at the European Parliament in Brussels, thanks to the support of The Greens / EFA

The full programme and speakers' bios are available in PDF format. Presentations from all speakers at the symposium are now available for online viewing and download.

The Arctic Futures Symposium had a number of key speakers including HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Herman van Rompuy, Maria Damanaki and Isabelle Durant.

Also online are short video interviews with a number of speakers who presented at the symposium, discussing their area of expertise and the importance of the Arctic.

Executive Summary & Press Release

The Arctic Futures 2010 Executive Summary gathers all the proceedings and can now be downloaded in PDF format. We have also published a press release.

Arctic Futures 2011

The 2010 event brought together a talented group of policy makers, researchers and experts in Polar issues from around the world, to debate and share ideas and knowledge, with the ultimate aim of promoting better understanding and collaboration. The 2011 event will also offer interesting debates and lectures on the future of the Arctic region.
