LEGO Model of Princess Elisabeth Antarctica Displayed at Skærbæk Fan Weekend 2025

Lego model of PEA at Skærbæk Fan Weekend in Denmark

Daniel Vermeir's famous LEGO model of the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica made an appearance at at Skærbæk Fan Weekend 2025 in Denmark last weekend.

Last year, LEGO enthusiast Daniel Vermeir built a scale model of the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica, which was put on display in the MAS Museum gift shop during the “To Antartica” exhibition, which ran from June until November 2024.

However the LEGO model of the station is still making the rounds and garnering some attention. During the last weekend of September, Daniel took his LEGO scale model of the world’s first zero emission polar research station to the LEGO Skærbæk Fan Weekend 2025 in Denmark.

Hundreds of different LEGO constructions adorned the hallways of the Skærbaekcentret over the two days of the festival, which was attended by thousands of people from 36 different countries.

Armed with some IPF brochures and a cheerful disposition, Daniel saw his model as a great opportunity to bring visibility to the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica and the work of the IPF. The LEGO model of the station stood out to attendees, and it served as a way to tell them about polar science and the groundbreaking zero-emission philosophy of the station.

“What strikes me most is how few people actually know that scientific research is conducted in Antarctica, let alone are familiar with the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica,” Daniel remarked.

It was a fun and educational experience for visitors young and old!
