The Belgian Solar Team finishes the World Solar Challenge in 12th position

For the first time in the history of the World Solar Challenge, a Belgian team completed the race and arrived in Adelaide, Australia after 3021 kilometres. The Umicore team arrived in 12th position and won the Hans Tholstrup Adventurer Award. Alain Hubert and the International Polar Foundation were proud to support this endeavour.

The IPF and Alain Hubert just want to congratulate the Umicore Solar Team for their participation to that race and their great fighting spirit despite the problems they had with their battery and solar cells. Being able to construct a solar energy car capable of a mean speed of 62 km/h during such a race is quite an achievement.

Congratulations again to the 14 enthusiastic students participating to this project and to the whole team.
