The Antarctic Futures Symposium

23 and 24 April 2026
Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.

The Antarctica Futures Symposium is an international symposium, organized in collaboration with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), will bring together leading scientists, government representatives, European institutions, and industrial and financial stakeholders to examine the strategic priorities for a new generation of research infrastructure in Antarctica.

The event will be held in parallel with the first meeting of the Andromeda project's Science Advisory Committee, chaired by Professor Eric Rignot (University of California Irvine), which is responsible for developing the strategic scientific framework for the future station.

The Andromeda Earth Observatory builds on the experience gained with the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica station, the world's first zero-emission research station. Beyond its scientific dimension, the project is a structuring platform at the intersection of climate science, technological innovation and long-term financing mechanisms. It aims to demonstrate how complex infrastructures, located in extreme environments, can be designed according to high standards of sustainability, resilience and financial viability.

In a context where the integration of scientific research, industrial innovation and climate finance is becoming increasingly important, Andromeda aims to explore models of collaboration between public institutions, industrial partners and long-term investors around common objectives: climate action, energy transition, sustainable infrastructure and technological autonomy.
