POPE
The POPE project aims to better understand the formation of precipitation in Antarctica and determine how much deposited snowfall is eventually transformed into ice. During the expedition, the POPE team installed additional equipment, including a large dish used to detect the movement and quantity of snowfall. To support field operations, IPF engineers Guus Luppens and Johan De Muylder constructed mobile solar-powered units that enabled the researchers to operate radar equipment using renewable solar energy.
