This project focuses on the observation of the Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) during the Antarctic polar night using a high-resolution RGB camera installed at Princess Elisabeth Antarctica.

The camera captures visible light by separating it into its three primary colours; red, green and blue; allowing it to produce detailed, true-to-life images of auroral displays. By recording the colour, shape and evolution of the aurora, the system provides valuable visual observations of these natural light phenomena.

Installed on the roof of Princess Elisabeth Antarctica, the camera operates during the polar night when auroral activity can be observed. The images collected throughout the observation period are stored and made available to the scientific team for further analysis, contributing to the study of Antarctic auroral phenomena.
