Gillian Triggs, Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Sydney, enumerates reasons why it would be difficult to have an “Arctic Treaty System” similar to the current Antarctic Treaty System and highlights differences between the Arctic and the Antarctic from a legal perspective.

Danila Bochkarev is a senior research fellow at the East-West Institute in Brussels. In order to have communications between the station and teams in the field using VHF radio, repeaters and antennae have to be installed at critical locations (route to coast, route to plateau, airstrip). This video illustrates the installation of such an antenna on the Romnoes Nunatak, on the way from the station to the coast.

In this short video, Alain Hubert explains the difficulties faced by the team during the unloading of the Mary Arctica in Crown Bay. 240 Tons of equipment were unloaded in just under 24 hours. This was made possible thanks to the professionalism of the Mary Arctica's crew and captain.

Helicopters at Princess Elisabeth: a first! After the unloading, rotors are mounted and engines are checked before the first take off. One of the pilots is also explaining the conditions the machines have to face in Antarctica: ice, snow, humidity and stark contrast between relatively warm conditions when the sun is shining and very cold ones at night or when the weather is not that good.
