In preparation of its construction in Antarctica, the pre-mounting of the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica in Brussels was important in foreseeing any potential building problems once it reaches Antarctica. After its inauguration on September 5th, the station was then open to the general public over the next four days, September 6th-9th, an event which drew 40,000 visitors to see the station before it gets shipped off to Antarctica to be built.

With the crowds gone, the team of workers can now proceed taking the station apart. A call for volunteers has been released in order to stay on-schedule as the stie has to be emptied by the end of September.

During its dismantling, the station was carefully loaded into transport containers. In order to spread out the convoy, containers are being sent weekly to a hangar in Antwerp where they are stored until they will leave for Antarctica in early October. A total of 100 containers will be required to ship the station's parts.

The next step will be to load the containers containing the parts of the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica on the DROMSHIP (Dronning Maud Land Ship network) before it leaves from Antwerp.
