Scientists from the PASPARTOUT and CRYOS projects camp out in tents at the coast during their field expedition.

Paula Lampreapineda from Ghent University takes snow samples for the PASPARTOUT project close to the Princess Ragnhild Coast in East Antarctica. She must be covered in a sterile suit so as not to contaminate the snow samples she collects. The snow samples will be taken back to Belgium and analysed to determine the kinds of particles that can be found in the snow and how they may have been transported to Antarctica through atmospheric circulation.

On Friday, January 24th, Paula Lampreapineda from Ghent University, who is working for the BELSPO-funded PASPARTOUT project, and Sergi Gonzalez from the EPFL in Lausanne, who is working on the CRYOS project, left PEA for the coast. Everyone waves goodbye and wished them well.
