This Automatic Weather Station (AWS) is called PE-BLU because it was originally installed in 2013 at the blue ice region some 60 km from the Princess Elisabeth Research Station. This location is now where the Perseus International Airfield is located. This station has been reliably collecting data on various weather parameters for the past 11 years, and still going strong!

The Clouds to Ground project is run by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). Researchers from the EPFL have installed several remote sensing station in the vicinity of the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica Research Station.
