Johan installs cable trays and electric cables that will be connected to the new solar panels on PEA's new garage, December 2020.

Stainless steel panels are placed on the north annex of the Princess Elisabeth Antarctica station, December 2020. The entire station is covered in stainless steel panels for protection.

Under the station, Expedition Leader Alain Hubert is doing heavy maintenance in the crevasse where the clean, treated water from the station's water treatment unit is discharged. He uses a drill to direct the flow of discharged water through the ice.

A large amount of ice blocking the crevasse had to be removed from its depths. Ropes and buckets made removal of the ice blocks possible.

In the recently completed garage at PEA, Mathieu builds new walls to separate different work spaces.

Plumber Bernard Polet prepares Christmas Dinner on Decmeber 24th, 2020. In the next room, you can see a wooden Christmas tree the team made out of recycled wood.

Alexis Merlaud is an atmospheric scientist from the Royal Belgian Institute for Space Aeronomy (BIRA-IASB). He is currently part of the 2020-2021 BELARE expedition, installing instruments dedicated to observing the atmosphere above Princess Elisabeth Antarctica

The BELARE team had to clear a flat 120 x 120 metre space in front of the station to place equipment.

The Princess Elisabeth Antarctica station looks majestic atop Utsteinen Nunatak now that it is up and running at hte start of the 2020-21 season!
